Event Organiser: Owls' View

Event Info

This October, Owl's View welcomes the Alan Cameron Trio for a relaxed evening of jazz in a beautiful setting. The trio will present tunes from their recent album 'Two Nights at Olympia', amongst others. Order your food with your ticket, bring cash for the bar, and join us for a spectacular evening. Tickets are limited to 50 people. The Alan Cameron Trio features Wesley Rustin on double bass, Simon Annett on drums, and Alan Cameron on piano. Their album is a collection of beautifully played jazz songs and was recorded live by Willem Moller at the Olympia Bakery in Kalk Bay and produced by Robin Auld. 'Two Nights at Olympia' will be available in CD format for R150. Dress: Smart Casual - it will be a garden setting so dress warmly! Menu: A poke bowl with either sashimi tuna, seared tuna OR teriyaki mushroom protein, complete with rice, dressing, vegetables and seasonings. About the Trio: Alan Cameron is a jazz pianist and composer living in Kalk Bay. His sound is a Cape blend of African rhythms, swing, goema, and calypso. Alan studied jazz piano with Merton Barrow at the Jazz Workshop where he later taught jazz piano whilst resettling in Cape Town, after being in London for some years. Wesley Rustin is a self-taught jazz musician who studied music at Mapp and the contra bass with the legendary Zoltan Kovat, from the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra. Wesley’s sound and many collaborations in music are extraordinary, and he is currently teaching at a few schools in Cape Town. Simon Annett is a drummer and teacher who has performed and recorded in many genres, collaborating with a variety of local and international bands. Mostly self taught, Simon has worked with the likes of Louis Mhlanga, and Adamu. He teaches at Westerford High School.
